MACHETE TO LOIN CLOTH: a poem

MACHETE TO LOIN CLOTH

The soldiers
Marched
The DEATH
March

Dehydrated
Malnourished
No boots
A Loin cloth

I marched
Machete
Leech socks
Hiking boots
WATER

Weak and Frail
POWs marched
Twenty six days
to their
death

They battled
Japanese beating
Roughest terrain
Six survived
Six escaped

Healthy and hydrated
I marched
5 hours
To my
Lunch

A Machete
Guided me
through the rough jungle
slicing away
obstacles

Everyone survived .
