Last morning in the south

Breakfast this morning was easier because I didn't feel so guilty eating so much because the staff would have just had their pre dawn food. It's Ramadan and because Indonesia has the biggest Muslim population in the world, most people abstain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset for the month. It comes from the Qur'an (like the Christian bible), when Muslims are meant to feel closer to god and to remind them of the suffering of others.

We then walked along the beach again, in the bead sand which was sprinkled with coral the polyps had finished with.

And to the mangrove tree, with the clever technique of removing the salt from the water in their roots so they only absorb fresh water.

Oh, and the butterlies. Alfred Wallace walked Lombok with a butterfly net, I think I need to get one. It's amazing how he captured them with only pencil and ink. It's not so easy even with a camera because butterflies flitter and fly!

We are leaving our paradise in an hour to drive north.
